Absences

Maintaining regular attendance is mandatory for all students aged from 5 years to leaving age.

When your child is absent from school we require a phone call to the office before 9am on the day, or a signed note in the communication diary with a short explanation (illness, appointment, family etc.) on the first day back to school. We do not need personal details.

All parents and carers will be notified by text message if your child is absent without notice.

We appreciate notice in advance of medical appointments or other scheduled absences. The 'Time Out' extract from Queensland Health included in the Parent/Carer handbook (PDF, 2MB) gives clear instructions for the number of days students should stay absent from school with specific illness and infections, to reduce the risk of infecting others.

Please be advised that we have a legal obligation to respond to the Education Departments audit of student absences and require an explanation for each day, or part day that is missed.
