National Simultaneous Storytime

Sharing their love of reading, Miss Kim and Miss Janet kept everyone entertained

We joined over a million other people across Australia and New Zealand to participate in this event. Literacy learning is alive and well at Gympie Special School!
On Wednesday, 22nd of May we took part in the 2019 National Simultaneous Storytime reading at 11am EST.

An initiative of the Australian Library and Information Service (ALIS), this year the story was the engaging book "Alpacas with Maracas", written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove. The ALIS put together an extensive set of resources so that the story could be accessed by students of all abilities.

Our junior school students were entertained by Principal Kim Kelly and Deputy Principal, Janet Humphreys and it was wonderful to see the children laughing with the delight of seeing 2 of their favourite people having so much fun reading and acting out the story for them. So much fun that they rushed to join in their own maraca dance at the end of the tale.
